Arrested Texas Tech football players had credit cards belonging to another player, former athlete

Kenny Williams and Jace Amaro were in possession of credit cards linked to another Texas Tech football player and a former baseball walk-on when arrested March 9.

The 19-year-olds had a card belonging to Trent Williams, said Sgt. Jonathan Stewart with the Lubbock Police Department.

Trent Williams is a sophomore football player on Tech's spring roster. His card was not used at the Firehouse Grill and Bar, but a Bank of America card belonging to Harrison Holmes was.

Holmes was on Tech's baseball roster in 2008, although he did not end up making the team the subsequent spring, said Blayne Beal, associate athletics director.

Holmes is still a Tech student, according to a representative at the office of the registrar.

Beal confirmed Trent Williams is a roommate with the accused and good friends with Williams and Amaro.

Amaro and Williams have claimed their innocence through their respective lawyers.

Amaro was also arrested for using a fraudulent ID, according to police reports.

Trent Williams is a deep snapper, and recently transferred to Tech from Blinn College, a junior college in Brenham.

As of Tuesday morning, the investigation was still open, Stewart said.

Holmes and Trent Williams have not responded to Facebook messages sent in the last week.
