The film is set to revolve around the Navy Seal Team Six, who hunted for, and ultimately found the world's most wanted terrorist hiding in a Pakistani compound in 2011.

Chandler, 46, is most known for his role Coach Eric Taylor in the NBC drama series "Friday Night Lights." He also stared in the 2011 summer film by famed director J.J. Abrams "Super 8."

The Buffalo, N.Y.-born actor will been joining an already impressive cast which is set to include Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong, and Edgar Martinez.

The film has been in development since prior to bin Laden's death.

Bin Laden was killed May 2, 2011 in a raid on his Abbottabad, Pakistan compound in a covert operation ordered by President Barack Obama. The mission was code-named Operation Neptune Spear and was carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency and the Navy Seals Team Six.

Bigelow has directed other war films including the 2008 Iraq war drama, "The Hurt Locker," which won six Oscars including Best Director, Best Original Screen Play, and Best Picture.

Bigelow and the cast have been extremely tightlipped about the details regarding the film but star Jessica Chastain shared some details behind the film with celebrity portal JustJared,com.

"I've been working on Kathryn Bigelow's move in Jordan. After the Oscars, I go to India to shoot more of the exteriors for the film," she told the popular celebrity website.

The film is expected to be released in U.S. theaters this coming December.
