Adam Lambert to front Queen at UK's Sonisphere on Astini News

Adam Lambert will front Queen at England's Sonisphere Festival July 7.

"I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert!" Adam tweeted Monday. "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!"

Queen will headline the second day of Sonisphere. The festival takes place at Knebworth Park, the site of the band's final concert with lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1986.

Adam sang We Are the Champions with Queen during the 2009 American Idol finale and also performed with the band last year at the MTV Europe Awards.

"Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy," Queen guitarist Brian May said via a press release announcing the concert. "It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush."
