A Kenny Powers Party In Myrtle Beach on Astini News

Kenny Powers' return was only a matter of time. He quickly conquered the Mexican Minor Leagues as 'La Flama Blanca,' at once regaining some much needed confidence and winning the hearts and minds of, well, Stevie Janowski at least. Now it's time for former and future star pitcher to once again play ball in the land where they call it their national pastime. However, before he can make the jump to the MLB, KFP has to make a quick pit-stop in the minor leagues during Eastbound & Down Season 3.

Although it's not exactly firm, we have a tentative date for the start of the third season (January 2012), not to mention a look at his new ball club the Myrtle Beach Mermen. I can only imagine what kind of shenanigans Kenny - and hopefully Stevie - can get up do in Myrtle Beach, especially during spring break... I mean spring training. Well, if this tease is any indication there will be a lot of booty shorts, boob tattoos and all around Kenny Powers fanfare in the South Carolina locale. Let's just hope all the partying doesn't keep the pitcher from getting it done on the field.&

We had also previously reported that SNL's Jason Sudeikis was joining the cast as a buddy of Kenny's plus Mad TV's Ike Barinholtz as a star Russian pitcher named Ivan. Sudeikis is scheduled to play an old buddy of Powers who will likely be a bad influence, enabling and participating in the more debauched aspects of Kenny's lifestyle. Barinholtz as the Russian pitcher sounds equally entertaining and although they describe the relationship between him and KP as student-mentor, I imagine things will probably not end well between the mulleted American and his Commie counterpart (can anyone say Ivan Drago?). Let's just say, I'm pretty excited for the return of one of the few shows capable of making me spit-take.&

Eastbound & Down was created by McBride, Jody Hill, and Ben Best (who plays the coked-out bartender, Clegg). Season 3 will start in January 2012 on HBO, Sundays at 10:30 p.m. KFP.
